who is president? can we smoke weed now? marriage equality? but what about...

  • who is president?
  • can we smoke weed now?
  • marriage equality?
  • but what about...

Nobody seems to be making too big a deal about healthcare:

  1. Alabama 96% Reporting
    Yes 59.1% (No 40.9%)
    Mandatory health care coverage rejection:
Would prohibit any person or employer from being forced to participate in any health care system.
  2. Missouri 95% Reporting
    Yes 62.1% (No 37.9%)
    Health care exchange ban:
Would prohibit the creation or operation of state-based health insurance exchange except by vote of people or legislature.
  3. Montana 24.7% Reporting
    Yes 64.1% (No 35.9%)
    Mandatory health insurance rejection:
Would prohibit state and federal governments from requiring the purchase of health insurance or imposing any penalty for those who do not.
  4. Wyoming 96.0% Reporting
    Yes 77.0% (No 23.0%)
    Health care amendment:
Would reserve health care decisions of residents, allow them to pay for any health care and give the state legislature authority to regulate health care.
  5. Florida 97.9% Reporting ***
    No 51.6% (Yes 48.4%)
    Mandatory health insurance rejection:
Would create an amendment to the state constitution to prohibit laws from requiring a person or employer to purchase health care coverage.
  6. Pope Benedict XVIStatement from 2010Access to adequate medical attention, the pope said in a written message Nov. 18, was one of the "inalienable rights" of man. [...]

"The care of man, his transcendent dignity and his inalienable rights" are issues that should concern Christians, the pope said.

Because an individual's health is a "precious asset" to society as well as to himself, governments and other agencies should seek to protect it by "dedicating the equipment, resources and energy so that the greatest number of people can have access."

"Justice requires guaranteed universal access to health care," he said, adding that the provision of minimal levels of medical attention to all is "commonly accepted as a fundamental human right."
***Florida: Sure, they seem to be ok with health coverage being guaranteed, but probably in support of re-electing obama too? At this point, some of the florida state election board officials haven't reported in yet / the presidential votes could still theoretically flip to favoring romney at this point.

Marketing speak / truth in advertising

Was shopping for printers today, and got to wondering if marketing speak was being treated as "fact"...

Here's what I found:

Manufacturer ((print-o-tron)) describes a printer on their own website / product page as:

"Resolution: Up to 1200 x 1200 dpi effective output"

And then retailer ((cheap-price-deals-on-stuff)) has a listing which states:

"Black Print Quality: 1200 x 1200 dpi"

Elsewhere on the ((print-o-tron)) website, they list a higher end printer which can handle color, faster output, etc...

Though now a distinction is made between fact and marketing speak:

"Resolution: Optical: 600 x 600 Enhanced: Up to 1200 x 1200 dpi effective output"

Once again, retailer ((cheap-price-deals-on-stuff)) uses the same wording:

"Color Print Quality: 1200 x 1200 dpi"

And then I decided to compare a different manufacturer, let's say ((ultra-printer9000)) ... According to the manufacturer ((ultra-printer9000)) website / product page for one of their printers:

"Resolution (black): Up to 600 x 600 x 2 dpi (1200 dpi effective output)"

But then looking to the retailer ((cheap-price-deals-on-stuff)) website:

"Black Print Quality: 600 x 600 dpi"

Art, and why I hate blogs (including my own)

This is what's up...
  1. http://theprettiestboy.tumblr.com/post/33826689905/inky-made-a-pretty-thing-with-math
  2. http://plus.google.com/107197601138755246940/posts/RaQ5F69cnxQ
Failed at "reblogging" twice in the same hour. I don't know how blogs and/or google plus and/or tumblr work... just whatever.

Why can't tumblr, google plus, facebook, and "blogspot AKA blogger.com" all just use the same sharing / reblogging / whatever they're called systems.

Why do I have to have a tumblr account to use their "reblog" feature, and then I can only reblog tumblr content from within the tumblr hosting bubble itself.

Why can't blogger / blogspot suck less. I really don't want to resort to hosting my own blog (or paying someone else to host it)

Why am I still awake.

Why do I keep asking rhetorical questions?

Why no question marks other than this one^

Internet Explorer MANDATORY update???

Since when is internet explorer a non-optional update? Was just doing a clean install of windows 7 in a VM to test something... What the hell is all this now?! According to windows update / microsoft...

Apparently, in microsoft's delusional opinion:

Internet explorer 9 is:
  • Fast
  • Clean
  • Trusted
  • Interoperable
... wow I didn't know that. I'm sold!!!

(that was dripping with sarcasm if you couldn't tell)

The following is according to windows update (quote... as such, I don't take any responsibility for dumb fucking misrepresentations and hype)

Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7

Download size: 19.3 MB

You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect.

Update type: Important

Windows Internet Explorer 9 delivers web sites and applications that look and perform like native PC applications through the power of Windows.

Fast: Internet Explorer 9 is all-around fast.  Designed to take full advantage of your PC’s hardware through Windows, Internet Explorer 9 delivers graphically rich and immersive experiences that are as fast and responsive as native applications installed on your PC.

Clean: Internet Explorer puts the focus on the Web sites you love with a clean look and increased viewing area that makes your Web sites shine.  Intuitive and seamless integration with Windows 7 provides one-click access to Web applications pinned directly to your Taskbar.

Trusted: Internet Explorer is the trusted way to the Web because it has a robust set of built-in security, privacy and reliability technologies that keep you safer and your browsing experience uninterrupted.

Interoperable: Support for HTML5 and modern Web standards architected to take advantage of the GPU means that the same mark-up not only works across the Web, but runs faster and delivers a richer experience through Windows and  Internet Explorer 9.

You Now Have Timeline — a New Kind of Profile
Preview your timeline now and make any changes you want before other people see it starting October 4.

Managed to avoid this for so long but now it's fucking gone. google plus here I come.

DRAGONS!!!

<status> Woo! Got to level 15.

<status> Farmgirl kuzetsa has slain the hideous creature known as The Green Dragon. All across the land, people rejoice!

<status> kuzetsa has earned the title Traveler for having slain the Green Dragon 1 times!

<status> Traveler kuzetsa has been slain in the forest by Lab Rat.

<status> Lab Rat was overheard saying, "Traveler kuzetsa's Fists was no match for my Radioactive Food Pellets!"

Lost my weapon after my first "dragon kill" and then everything was reset but I forgot I was no longer tough, died quick... Can't help it if I'm a little rusty. I used to play the LORD (door game) back 20 something odd years ago on BBSes (you know,  before there were web browsers) My latest adventure was on Legend of the GREEN dragon (LOTGD) red, green they're all the same.

... Well not quite. This one doesn't tie up my phone line. err... that feels weird to say. Just realized I haven't owned a land line in a decade. My android smartphone could be used to play this modern version while I was in the middle of a phone call even.
